Their Story

Danielle and Scott got married on a Thursday, July 23rd, 2020, at Twenty Mile House in Graeagle. The ceremony was out in the forest, on wood chips under the tall pines, with white chairs facing a wooden arch draped in white fabric. The bridesmaids wore red and the groomsmen wore gray. I took the photo below from my DJ booth just after three, with the wedding party already standing up front.

While guests found their seats I played piano and cello covers by The Piano Guys, among them Rolling in the Deep, Can't Help Falling in Love and Happy Together, and A Thousand Years by The Piano Guys went on at 3:04. At 3:20, Born to Love You by LANCO started the country set.

Cocktail hour stayed country for a while, with Marry Me by Thomas Rhett, Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton and Timber by Pitbull and Kesha, which was on their music worksheet. Around half past five it turned to classic rock: Hold On Loosely by 38 Special, Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf, More Than a Feeling by Boston and Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Their first dance was on the concrete patio between the white house and the brick house, with guests standing around the edge holding up their phones. I caught Scott spinning Danielle about half past six.

A few minutes later the dance floor opened with Summer by Calvin Harris, and it went straight into Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO, Cha Cha Slide by DJ Casper, Cupid Shuffle by Cupid and Cotton Eye Joe by Rednex. Later in the evening came a run of country sing alongs, Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks, Your Man by Josh Turner and Cruise by Florida Georgia Line among them.

As the sun went down and the string lights came on, Danielle and Scott slow danced with their guests in front of the brick house to Die a Happy Man by Thomas Rhett. That is the photo at the top of this page, taken at 8:28.

After dark it turned into a party: Footloose by Kenny Loggins, Take On Me by a-ha, Y.M.C.A. by Village People, Yeah! by Usher, Jump Around by House of Pain and Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard, with red and green lasers across the floor. The photo below is from Macarena by Los Del Rio, just before ten.

The last hour kept the floor full with Pony by Ginuwine, Paradise City by Guns N' Roses, The Final Countdown by Europe and Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show for a second time that night. Danielle was still in the middle of the floor at eleven, during (I've Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, and the last song of the night was It Takes Two by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock at 11:08.
