Their Story
Abney and Chris were guests at Nicole and Colton's wedding, which I DJed back in 2021. And they were so impressed, they booked me on the spot! 2 years later, we all got to celebrate again! I Love Love!
On her music sheet, right next to cocktail hour, Abney wrote: "Whatever you played at Nicole and Colton's wedding was great!" That is one of the best compliments a DJ can get, and it made planning their day really easy.

Their wedding took place at Silverthorn Meadows in Camino, California, up in the Apple Hill area of the Sierra foothills. It is a beautiful property, with tall pines, a bright green lawn, and a pond right behind the ceremony arbor. It was a sunny Saturday in the middle of May, and the whole place was glowing.
Chris and Abney love Star Wars, and they made sure everyone knew it! Chris walked out to the Force Theme, which he asked me to start at exactly 1:03. The wedding party came down the aisle to a cello and piano version of Can't Help Falling in Love by Brooklyn Duo, and Abney made her entrance to Forever and Ever and Always by Ryan Mack. They even had me play the "It's a trap!" meme, Admiral Ackbar's famous line from Episode VI, Return of the Jedi, right in the middle of the bridal entrance song as a joke. Everyone laughed!

Abney looked absolutely stunning in a blush pink gown and a crown of flowers, carrying a big bouquet of sunflowers. After their first kiss under the arbor, I played the Throne Room theme, the music from the medal ceremony at the end of the very first Star Wars movie. Then their guests lined both sides of the aisle and raised lightsabers to make an arch for the newlyweds to walk through. It looked like a scene straight out of a movie!

At the reception, the wedding party made their entrance to That's Amore by Dean Martin. Chris is a big Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin fan, so I made sure to work in Fly Me to the Moon, I Get a Kick Out of You, Sway, and Ain't That a Kick in the Head.

After dinner, the Best Ma'am and the Maid of Honor each gave a toast, and they had the newlyweds laughing the whole way through.
For their first dance, they chose For the Dancing and the Dreaming, sung by Peter Hollens. It is a song from How to Train Your Dragon 2, and it fit these two perfectly.

Their cake was one of the most creative ones I have seen. It was trimmed with sunflowers, with a Platform 9 3/4 emblem on the side and two handmade figures of the bride and groom on top, surrounded by a whole table of cupcakes. They cut it to How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You) by James Taylor.
When I asked about their favorite genres, Abney wrote: "2000s! We're old!" So when it came time to dance, we started with the Cupid Shuffle, which she requested to get people out on the floor. From there we went into Yeah! by Usher, Get Low, Promiscuous, and Just Dance by Lady Gaga, with Dancing Queen, Shout, and Footloose mixed in for the rest of the family.

For the last dance of the night, I invited everyone onto the dance floor to join the bride and groom for Marry You by Bruno Mars.
Thank you so much to Abney and Chris for having me at your beautiful wedding. Congratulations to you both, and may the Force be with you!
