Their Story
Devin reached out through my website in May 2024. He and Emily were planning an October wedding in Truckee for about 70 people, and we talked on the phone that same day.
They got married on a private estate in the pines, with a white farmhouse, a floral arch and long dinner tables right on the lawn. There was even a his and hers cocktail: a paloma for Emily and a whiskey ginger for Devin. Chalene Q Photography captured the whole day.

The ceremony was unplugged. Guests found their seats to Harvest Moon by Neil Young, the wedding party walked in to a piano version of Kiss Me, and Emily came down the aisle to Turning Page (Instrumental) by Sleeping At Last.

After their first kiss under the arch, they threw their arms up and walked back up the aisle to Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and The Waves. Devin dipped Emily for one more kiss on the way out.

As the sun went down they danced onto the lawn to Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon. Dinner was Mexican food at the long tables under the string lights, and the toasts had the whole estate raising a glass.

Their first dance was Wondering Why by The Red Clay Strays, on a black and white checkered dance floor out under the trees. Emily danced with her dad to Daughters by John Mayer, and Devin danced with his mom to Can She Have This Dance by Drew Baldridge.

They cut the cake to Sugar, Sugar by The Archies, and then we played the shoe game, with both of them holding up shoes in the dark.

Once the dance floor opened it stayed full. I brought extra lights and a fog machine, and in Emily's words I "played the best songs and had great remixes." We danced all the way to the last song, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough by Michael Jackson.

A few months later, Devin's brother Ronnie sent me their photos. Thank you, Emily and Devin, for having me up in Truckee.

DJ Jon absolutely killed it at our wedding! He brought extra props and lights and created the perfect atmosphere for dancing! I can't imagine having a better DJ for our special day.
