The Story
Summit Line Construction builds and maintains power lines, and on August 7, 2026 they brought their linemen to the Summit Line yard in Sparks for a training rodeo. Crews competed in lineman events from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Summit Line already had an emcee lined up. What they needed from me was music through the whole day and a sound system the emcee and their event host could run every announcement through.
I was out of the country that week, so a DJ from the DJs In Reno team played it. The setup was a full PA with a subwoofer, mics and two dance lights, under a tent in the open yard between two work trailers.
The schedule Summit Line sent me opened with a welcome ceremony and the national anthem at 8:30. The emcee called each event and talked with the teams, food trucks opened at 11, and Kona Ice stayed open until 2. The host closed the day with the raffle winners and the team headed to Utah for a chance to compete in Kansas.
