SciX Conference

The SciX conference brought its 2026 Gala to the Orozko room at the Nugget Casino Resort on 10-08-2026. The theme was the Pioneering Spirit of Science, so the guests came in western costumes.

Guests got bandanas at the door, and the room filled with cowboy hats, plaid, prospectors and more than one cow costume. I was the DJ and MC for the night and brought the lighting, from 7 to 11.

I opened with Music by Madonna and kept cocktail hour easy with Smooth Operator, Stand By Me and Beyond The Sea. Then the country came out: Take Me Home, Country Roads, Jolene, Man! I Feel Like A Woman! and Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy).

From there the floor stayed full, with line dances, arms in the air and a stick horse or two.

The crowd was like putty in my hands. They were a very high quality crowd. They were patient, and danced the entirety of each track, even when I played the full length club versions. They were also open to my signature Ice Ice Shady and No Jump Till Brooklyn mashups. They loved them!

They also didn’t request too many songs, and all of the songs that they requested were good enough for me to feel good about playing them. As a result, all requested songs were played!
