Hailey & Zen

Hailey and Zen were seriously two of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I'll never forget it: when I first showed up, Zen asked me what he could do to help me. Luckily, I had arrived early and was heavily prepared, but just the fact that he asked what he could do for me showed me how kind he was.

Hailey and Zen had a beautiful, small, intimate ceremony and reception hosted at the Renaissance Reno, in downtown Reno.

The ceremony took place on the bocce ball court, on a perfect, sunny September afternoon. I had just gotten back from Burning Man the night before, so I was fully amped and ready to party!

The ceremony went off flawlessly, and soon we all headed inside for cocktail hour and dinner.

Hailey and Zen chose Feel So Close by Calvin Harris for the wedding party entrance, which I think is one of the best wedding party entrance choices I've ever seen. It's positive, it's upbeat, it's super hype, and it brings a ton of energy into the room.

Their vibe was 2010s indie and alternative pop rock with a pop punk edge, all Train, The Script, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Vance Joy, Paramore, and Weezer.

After the grand entrance, we went straight into the photo rush, where Hailey and Zen ran all around the reception room, the Topaz Room, smiling, laughing, and posing with all of their friends and family while the photographer followed in hot pursuit, snapping beautiful portraits all along the way.

The rest of the evening was very chill and relaxed, until we landed on the shoe game. This was a very cute moment, and Hailey and Zen disagreed on a few of the answers.

Finally, after cake cutting, the traditional dances, and a group photo, it was open dance time. And I absolutely killed it. It was one of my best DJ sets ever. I pulled off mashups I had never done before, including mixing Feel So Close by Calvin Harris into We Found Love by Rihanna. These two are a very similar style and key, so I was able to lay the vocal of Feel So Close over the bass line of We Found Love through the outro chorus and the break. The crowd absolutely lost it!

Their coordinator was Bella of Reno By Design, who texted me afterward to say everyone raved about how well I did.

My favorite part of this wedding was simply how nice Hailey and Zen were. What stuck with me was how easy going, kind, and relaxed they both were, before and during the day, not stressed at all. After the wedding, Hailey told me how much everyone enjoyed the music and how grateful she was, and her kind words made me so happy.
